The Internet is spawning new laws around the world, some are being drafted right now--a process that is both exciting and frightening for many webmasters and developers to watch. Unlike other areas of commerce law that can usually turn to historical data and traditions to help settle disputes, and to lead the development of the law, the Internet has no history of law on which to fall back, Internet or "Cyber law" is instead being written on the fly so to speak, by judges who must do their best to fit legal agreements and disputes over the Internet, into preexisting commerce based legal precedents. As a result, the legal principles governing conduct and commerce over the Internet are still in a state of constant change. Domain squatting, domain ownership are some of the legal cases the courts are still working on perfecting.

Copyright - When creating a web site there have been instances of one party infringing on the works of others. If they violate one of the five exclusive rights given to copyright owners under the Copyright Act they can face legal sanctions.

Image Theft / Protection. One of the leading attractions of the Internet is the ability to use graphics to convey information to users. A sophisticated and subtle graphical presentation is the hallmark of some of the Web's most popular sites. However many find it easier to simply infringe on copyright and steal images from websites.
